ISO 45005 provides practical recommendations for managing all risks that may be caused by a pandemic and can be applied by all types of organizations, particularly beneficial for those without established human resource departments.
This standard offers guidance to organizations on managing the risks arising from COVID-19 to protect health, safety, and well-being in relation to work.
The standard applies to organizations of all sizes and sectors, including those that:
a) operate throughout the pandemic;
b) continue or plan to continue operating after full or partial closure;
c) reoccupy workplaces that were fully or partially closed;
d) are new and planning to start operating for the first time.
Additionally, this standard provides guidelines pertaining to the protection of various types of workers (e.g., employees of the organization, workers from external suppliers, contractors, self-employed individuals, agency workers, older workers, workers with disabilities, and emergency responders) and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., workplace visitors, including members of the public).
This standard is not intended to provide guidance on the application of specific infection control protocols in clinical, healthcare, and other settings.
